strips are available. The test strips are easy to use, and give semi-quantitative results for
micro-albumin, calcium, and creatinine by simply dipping the test strip in a urine sample and comparing the test pads with a colour chart. The result of the test is a valuable aid for the diagnosis of several conditions. Abnormal micro-albumin levels are one of the first signs of kidney damage and kidney failure, as are abnormal creatinine levels. Micro-albumin levels have also been linked with hypertension, and cardiovascular problems such as heart failure. High levels of calcium in urine can result in kidney stones.
Abnormal levels of calcium in urine can also be indicative of abnormal parathyroid gland function, and osteoporosis.
