Optimal atmospheric conditions for culture of anaerobic organisms
Optimal atmospheric conditions for culture of anaerobic organisms. Successful culture of anaerobic and micro-aerophilic organisms relies on achieving the
right atmospheric conditions. The Atmosphere Generation Systems (AGS) range encompasses a choice of air-activated atmosphere-generating sachets and a choice of sealed containers for anaerobiosis. No catalysts are needed and no water is required. AnaeroGen is a product that reacts rapidly to produce an atmosphere of <1% oxygen supplemented with carbon dioxide within 30 minutes, facilitating the culture of fastidious and obligate anaerobes. CampyGen, on the other hand produces a microaerobic atmosphere ideal for the growth of Campylobacter species, while CO2Gen achieves an enriched aerobic environment which improves the growth of fastidious organisms such as Haemophilus and Neisseria species. Plates can be sealed, cultured and transported in the specifically-designed AnaeroJar. All these products are also available in 'Compact' formats which facilitate the culturing of small batches of plates in transparent pouches. Use of non-hazardous chemicals means that there are no hazardous material transport fees to pay.
