Assays for herpes simplex
Two new enzyme linked immunofiltration assays for the serodiagnosis of herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 are available. The IMMUNOQUICK ELIFA HSV1/2 IgG and ELIFA HSV IgM tests incorporate a membrane solid phase, which is held in a plastic cartridge containing wicking material and is visible to the user through a test window on the front of the device. The IgG test uses recombinant human gG1 and gG2 immobilised at two discrete locations on the membrane. The IgM test uses a mixture of native HSV1 and HSV2 antigens. The tests are simple to perform and provide a complete HSV serological profile in 15 minutes. This new platform enables physicians and labs to accurately detect and screen for herpes infection.
