Software module for optical tweezers

Microscopy

Microscopy
The Force Measurement module of the PALM RoboSoftware enables the quantitative measurement of the forces of microscopic specimens when using PALM MicroTweezers. The new module allows life scientists to measure properties such as cell elasticity or plasma membrane features of biological specimens. The intuitive and flexible user interface ensures easy operation of this module. Users can define their own test configurations, and the module also enables the optical tweezers to be used for simple specimen manipulation as well as position detection and quantitative force measurement. Various calibration routines for the characterisation of the optical tweezers are performed and evaluated automatically at the push of a button. Visualising the measuring data in real time, the module stores all relevant data and images to completely document each experiment and each calibration procedure. The module Because the Force Measurement module requires no additional hardware, time-consuming adjustment and calibration are unnecessary. The FM StarterKit that accompanies the software module contains the FluidCell component, which permits fast and easy sample preparation, particularly for force measurement experiments.
