INFLUENZATOP is a new lateral flow test for the qualitative detection of influenza virus types A and B from nasopharyngeal swabs or nasal aspirates. The sample extraction buffer is provided in unit doses complete with plastic dropper, with a filter for optimum safety. The test is performed by applying four drops of the extraction buffer onto the device specimen window. Dual migration from here to two specific areas of the cartridge then allows differential diagnosis of influenza types A and B. Result are available in 10 minutes. Recent studies in Europe have shown that the test can accurately detect pandemic H1N1 virus. The tests have a 24 months shelf life.
